Abject apologies

Due to a couple of blunders on my part – hard though that may be for you, dear reader, to believe – and to what I suspect was a blunder on the part of my web host (but could have been a hack job) @ my wits end is cleaned out. All of my blog posts here and all of the comments from my small band of visitors have vanished into a digital black hole.

For those fluent in geek-speak, my MySQL database contents disappeared and my site backups are corrupt. To compound this felony, I accidentally wiped my “backups of backups” and a year or two of work is gone.

Forever.

“Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ‘em up with worn-out tools:”

“If” – Rudyard Kipling

Thanks Mr Kipling, that’s very comforting. :)

My posts are not the biggest worry. It’s the hysterical abuse valued comments from contributors which I can’t regenerate and the fact that the Google search bots had their roots sunk into my blog and now there’s nothing for Google to link to.

Sigh …

Not to worry.

Back to the drawing board.

The biter bit

I spend a lot of time lecturing folk about the importance of backups – see here. So this is justice: I’m getting my comeuppance for an excess of hubris.

To those who were interested in my wafflings, or to those who’ve followed a dead end link, my apologies.
